How Precision Ground Bar Stock from a Chicago Supplier Helps Midwest Manufacturers Cut Lead Times

When raw bar stock arrives oversized or out of round, your machinists lose time correcting the material before production even starts. That wasted prep time adds up fast across a full production run.

At Advance Grinding Services in Chicago, we solve that problem directly. We supply precision-ground bar stock in dozens of alloys, ground to your tolerance, ready to machine the moment it arrives on your floor.

How Precision Ground Bar Stock Saves Time at Every Stage of Production

Receiving bar stock that is already at spec changes your entire workflow. Your team skips the correction step and moves straight into production. That single shift removes a consistent source of delay from every job you run.

We supply manufacturers across aerospace, automotive, medical, and industrial sectors from our Chicago area facility. With extensive in-house stock and a full range of grinding and finishing services, we give procurement teams and CNC shops one reliable source for ready-to-run bar material.

Tight Tolerances That Let You Start Machining Immediately

Our centerless grinding process holds tolerance as low as .0001 inch. The machine works with a grinding wheel, a regulating wheel, and a work support blade to produce consistent roundness across the full bar length.

That level of precision means the bar you receive already falls within your part’s tolerance band. You are not paying your machinists to prep material. You are paying them to make parts, which is exactly where their time belongs.

Surface Finish Down to 8 RMS

We grind to a micro finish as low as 8 RMS. For aerospace, medical manufacturing, and food processing applications, surface condition directly affects how a part performs in service.

Getting the right finish at the supplier stage removes one more variable from your process. Your team moves forward with material that already meets your surface specification from the moment it arrives.

A Full Range of Sizes and Materials in Stock

We grind round bar from .062 inch up to 8 inches in diameter, in lengths up to 40 feet. That range covers most shaft, bearing, pump, and structural bar applications without special arrangements.

Stainless steel grades include 303, 304, 316, 316LVM, 440C, and 15-5PH. Alloy steel covers 4140, 4340, 4130, 52100, Inconel Bar, Inconel X750, Hastelloy C22, and Hastelloy C276. Carbon steel includes 1018, 1045, and 1144 Stressproof. Aluminum runs to 6061-T6 and 7075, tool steel to D2, A2, H13, M2, and O1. Copper, brass, and bronze round bars are also available.

Finishing and Prep Services Included Under One Roof

Beyond grinding, we offer steel cutting services, chamfering, bar straightening services, polishing stainless steel, custom machining services, and bar packaging. Each service is available alongside your bar order.

Bundling prep services with your material order means fewer vendors touch the bar before it reaches your floor. Your team receives material that is cut, straightened, chamfered, and finished to spec rather than raw stock that needs several more steps.

Quality Systems Backed by ISO Certification

We maintain ISO certified quality systems and apply strict quality control across every grinding and machining operation. Continuous process improvement is part of how we run day to day.

For procurement teams that need documentation, our ISO certified quality systems give you a verified foundation to work from. You have a supplier whose standards are formally in place before your order is placed.
